Terri discovered Pilates while recovering from back surgery more than 15 years ago. She is comprehensively trained through Balanced Body for Mat, Barre and all Pilates equipment. Her goal is to educate clients about the benefits of Pilates to recover from injuries and to keep their bodies healthy and fit.
Terri has additional training including: Pilates Sports Center; movement education through Franklin Method; AFAA certification for Group Exercise. She has taught Low Impact Fitness, Chair classes for seniors, Piloga, and TRX in addition to Mat and Equipment Pilates. She believes Pilates offers something for every age and body.
Jeanne-Louise is a Bay Area native and has been practicing Pilates for over 15 years. After she had spinal fusion of her mid-back for scoliosis, she turned to Pilates as a way to strengthen her core and to prevent the all-too-common low back pain from which so many people suffer from. With experience in body-building, Jeanne-Louise has fused both strength training and classical pilates to create an effective high-energy class with heavy focus on alignment and whole body awareness.
Jeanne-Louise is ProWorks reformer certified and has completed her pilates training with Balanced Body in mat and reformer, she is certified in Group Exercise through SCW Fitness Education, plus she holds her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. She lives in Sonoma with her husband and adorable baby boy.
After many years working in education and maintaining her own workout programs, one day Yaffa walked into a Pilates class and instantly got hooked. She discovered her real passion in a workout that combines mind, body, and spirit.
She began her instructor training in 2006 at Pilates Sport Center in Los Angeles and has been teaching ever since. Her classes are typically based on teaching functional and mindful movements, while challenging students with rhythm and flow movements.
Beverly’s lifelong path has been one of health and wellness. Always an athlete in school, as an adult, Beverly’s attention turned to the fitness world complete with Step classes, Jane Fonda videos and spandex. After working in health care for many years, Beverly returned to school to earn her Master in Public Health degree hoping to better learn how to help people adopt healthy lifestyles.
Beverly is a certified Personal Trainer with National Academy of Sports Medicine as well as ProWorks Reformer expertise. Beverly has completed the three levels of Balanced Body Mat training.
Erin has been practicing Pilates for six years and loves it because she found so many other forms of exercise to be hard on her body. Specifically, Erin has experienced back pain since her late teens and Pilates has been the perfect exercise for her - an intense, but low impact workout.
Erin did her extensive mat and reformer Pilates training in Petaluma and is currently studying to take the PMA certification.
Originally from Boston, seven years ago Erin fell for Sonoma and now lives here with her husband and their "fur babies".
As an instructor, Janie focuses on individuality in the study and practice of body awareness. Student growth is built upon each individual’s needs guiding them to reach their desired objectives, facilitating growth in strength, wellness and awareness. She is recognized as an innovative and creative teacher.
She attained her certification in Pilates with Madeline Black and Jean Sullivan through ITT, and continued to further her knowledge attending workshops with Jean Claude West, Eric Franklin and Elizabeth Larkam. Other certification include NASM and PMA.
After doing only solo workouts for most of his life, Doug was lured into taking his first group exercise class in the late 1990’s. He progressed through kickboxing, yoga and Pilates, and later picked up kettlebells, Zumba, even jazz dance and barre classes.
The next logical step in Doug’s mind was teaching, of course. Early in 2013 he obtained certification for group exercise instruction through AFAA, and later that year completed mat Pilates teacher training with BASI Pilates, in which he has earned full certification. A 200-hour yoga teacher training immediately followed, by way of Yoga Community in Sonoma, and he began teaching there in March of 2014, just before graduation and earning his certificate.
A Sonoma resident, Doug teaches Pilates, yoga, and a blend of the two in Sonoma.
